Shoulder season. It might sound like a fashion trend but for travel hackers in the know it's the secret sauce of scoring cheap hotel rooms and discounted flights.

From Hawaii to Montana to Florida, these are the domestic destinations that are seeing the biggest price drops in hotel rates for fall 2019, according to Priceline. The travel website looked at the most expensive destination for summer 2019 and then analyzed how much hotel rates have dropped in certain areas.
Here’s what they found.

- Ocean City, Maryland – 35% off hotel rates
- Shoulder season average daily rate: $152
- Summer average daily rate: $233
- Orange Beach, Alabama – 34% off hotel rates
- Shoulder season average daily rate: $177
- Summer average daily rate: $269
- Virginia Beach, Virginia – 29% off hotel rates
- Summer average daily rate: $210
- Shoulder season average daily rate: $150
- Wailea, Hawaii – 26% off hotel rates
- Shoulder season average daily rate: $403
